Yellowfin update 2014 - 2015

Post by FishExcutnr » Sun Sep 07, 2014 8:31 pm

Its not yellowfin, but here some pics off some bluefin we have been lucky to catch off the back off a yacht in the med. I must admit there is a lot of fish around particularly south of italy towards corsica and sardinia. Been chasing baitballs on the surface with the tender but fishing with an overhead accurate havent had the distance and accuracy im craving from a gosa and aerocast ( will pick one up in spain next month!!). Any way these fish are super super skittish and incredibly hard to approach but nice to see large shoals actively feeding. Even had some bigger 60-70kg fish feeding on the surface 200m from land. heading to greece soon so we hunting a 50kg plus fish on the way. We aim to release all fish ( first two pics are of two fish kept due to injuries). thats why im in the water with the tail line.

Anyway craving a yellowfin, maybe next year. season is close, enjoy guys.

Buddy was on a bird charter in the deep today, chummed for a few min and suspects there was tuna under the boat!

By the looks of it, the Southeaster might just be starting!! 4 days of 20ish knots SE, followed by a few days of lighter S and SE, then stronger SE again!! Who knows, but getting BENT properly could be just around the corner!! :D

Nice stuff Justin, some excellent catches from the Med!. IIRC October used to see some giants....remember in 1995 seeing some towards Cyprus.

no, that's most probably a seal - there are lots off the point. Best pack the tuna tackle away until April
