Hi Guys,

Planning to go to the Breede 05th of April.
Do you think there will be some fish around this time of the year.
Is there spots where you can fish successfully from the side.
Renting a boat down there, weather permitting - don't feel like towing my rig that far and the fees applicable for 1-2 days.

Please advise

Kind Regards

Adrian

What a disappointing weekend wrt fishing the Breede for the first time. We caught two Steenbras, undersize, baby kob en a pan size Steentjie. None of the fish was kept; we hoped to catch Grunter but no such luck after spending a solid 8 hours searching and covering a vast area. I saw some guys with good size fish but I suppose they know the area. I was surprised to see guys that slept in their cabin boats since Friday. We were staying in a house opposite the slip. Suppose we took the wrong weekend and inexperience counted against us. First visit there and most definitely not the last; hopefully next time the fish will play with.

Don't feel too bad, the fishing in general in the river the last few weeks has been very much hit and run, with the odd decent grunter coming out. Cob catches are virtually non existence. Know of a guy that spent a whole morning on the river and used 6 prawns :(

Hi Charlie,
Did you go out this weekend? Saw guys retrieving yesterday and you fit the bill, took off your fishing t-shirt and put on a shirt?

I was also on the river this past weekend and it was definitely hit and miss.

I saw some really big grunter come out on other boats, as well as a number of small leeries on lures. As for my friends and I, we managed to find the grunter, catching 19 over the weekend. Two kept for the braai and the other 17 released. The strange thing is that roughly half the grunter were just about on the size limit, and I've never seen so many small grunter in the river. Maybe a good sign for the system?

Not me, but I'm leaving in the next 10 minutes to Witsand for 2 weeks................. :D
Weather forecast looks a bit up and down, so we will see what happens. Need to find someone to give me better pointers and ideas to fish from the rocks. Believe a few galjoen & cracker have come out recently, but I've never had any success :(
Mommy has just reminded me of all the work that must be done around the house as well
