Lots of mackerel just outside the yachts in Simon's town. Counted 15 boats and kayaks yesterday. Commercial anchored next to me put me in the eyes as he caught a lot more than me. Wind was blowing but still sheltered and only cost me 1 L of fuel. Fish was close to surface. Caught enough to get the smoker going. Temperature was 19.5 C. Nice outing for a Sunday. Retired to Neptune's for toasted chicken mayo sandwich.

We caught a few MACKEREL today at Simons town

At least I could share all the catch so many families could enjoy a piece of fresh MACKEREL

Not one fish left or wasted

Will be smoking a batch on Monday

We left at 18:00 and the fish was biting like there would be no tommorow

My friend on the boat was using a Toby spinner

This was great fun too

All fish was caught with bait on handlines using a 0.5 ounce ball sinker and a 3/0 hook

We fished in 15 m water

As we caught - we broke the necks and the fish went straight into an ice slurry to chill
