You saw it here first!

New V6 Mercs weighing from just 215kg - launched 10 minutes ago at the Miami Boat Show. The styling is not for me though .... Darth Vader?

As a yamaha man I might be biased, but a 3.4l is not much higher than the yammie 3.3l V6 but then yamaha also does a 4.2l
What I would be unhappy with if I was selling Merc is the gear ratio, at 1.85 to 1 going to have to spin a low pitch prop to get revs.
Interesting design I must say !

Wow!! Mercury coming out with some seriously impressive motors lately!!

The weight of this motor is simply mind boggling.

Suzuki 200/225/250

It comes down to weight I reckon, these new Merc 3.4L V6's are lighter than the 2.8/2.9L 4 cylinder Yamaha/Suzuki.
The Yamaha F200 has the same 1.86 ratio. The Merc will be the stronger performer without a shadow of a doubt.
I'm not a Merc man (my last 5 motors have all been Yamaha), but specs wise, the Merc 115, 150 and now 175-225 are all class leading.
Pity they have employed the guy who designed the Evinrude G2's though
