East Coast Report

Post by wille jan » Sat Apr 21, 2012 2:32 pm

Well, today the west came early and according to the weth rep, its going to pump 30 plus knt.
Just what we commercials are waiting for. We made some good catches of geelbek the last 2 months, on the Ray Banks and on the wildside at night. Myself hauled 1.1T and .9T ect, but as soon as the east come, an easterly current moves in and the fish disapears.
They seem to freet after a strong west for more than one day.
Fished for line fish this week and did ok Monday to wendsday, then had to scrach for shad to cover.
We are not allowed hake, so fishing the colder water is a no.
Wating for the alos(alwyn) to start blooming, then the carpenters(silvers) will be worth it, till the price drops.
Please send some of those big shad this way. Heard the KT ouks are nailing them.
Tight lines ouens and may your hatches explode.

Welcome to the forum!!

Always lekker to have another commercial here!!

Please post some photo's of a plat gelaai'de skuit    Our geelbek in False bay is pretty much non-exixtant. We had a phenominal season in 2005/6 but after that, it was all fall down........... At least you guys still get to catch them in good numbers.

What boat do you have/fish with?

Regards

Hi Miles
At the moment my boat is out of commision, But I am fishing on a 28ft butt at the moment and some times on a 21ft butt.
All of our local fleet consists of butt cats with the exeption of a Cape Craft 9m, Wille Hans. Wich are from CT.
The butt cats are slightly mod to handle bad weather. The gundals are raised and the bow aswell, for the spray and for when we are laying fas in a bigger sea.
We do not use laatjies, but BIG hatches and a dimond tipe console.
Will post some pics soon.
Just hope to get a load in.
