What has happened to the Snoek

Growing up in houtbay I remember the days of the annual Snoek run along with the Snoek derby, that would be fished out of houtbay. In recent years there seems to be a lapse in any Snoek activity this far down the coast, Snoek has not been seen at robben and the point for who knows how long. Does anyone have an answer or is it simply a lost cause.
