Hi, I am a spearo that is looking for a dive buddy or a group to go spearfishing with, as well as a charter or someone with a boat who is willing to make an arrangement. I have been hunting pelagics like couta, GT’s, wahoo and tuna in the blue waters of mozambique for years, so I do have some experience when it comes to big fish but I always want to learn more. I would like to go diving mostly for yellowtail, big tuna but would not mind a reef dive every once in a while. I have all the gear that is needed for hunting big fish so I won’t need someone to supply gear before dives.
I have seen videos of guys diving for big tuna at the cape point tuna grounds, would love to book a trip there.
And have heard about Mount Vema, I don’t know if it is a diveable spot or not.
Any suggestions, contacts and info would be appreciated.
I did start this topic in the spearfishing forum but its been dead since 2018

You should make a trip , to Struis .
Plenty of spearos here , and plenty of yellowtail , late jan / feb , the real big ones are around .
Some of the guys , are really good at feeding yellowtail spears , when they don’t want to eat .

Vema , are bloody far out .
Generally the tuna , in cpt are also a couple of miles .
The other outside place , are the 45 s and the Alphards bank . 90 mile trip there and back , you have to go with an experienced person from the area , last year a few guys , got caught in a big sea out there , took the 7 hours to get back ….
I would also not venture out there with a vessel smaller than 25 ft .
The alphards , well one can write a book about it .
XXL blocks of boiling fish , tuna , yellowtail , dorado , even seen some wahoos caught there .

Hello,
Caution is certainly the order of the day, especially for smaller vessels. It's always a good idea to be well prepared and experienced before venturing into these waters.
